Summary

The never-before-told story of how young Leia Organa comes to join the rebellion against the evil Empire。

A young Princess Leia spends her days learning the ways of politics, aiding those in need and preparing for the traditional ceremony in which she declares her intention to one day rule Alderaan。 But as Leia prepares herself to be named the heir of the throne, she becomes aware of the growing distance between her and her parents, who behind closed doors are leaders of the newly formed rebellion。 Upon learning her parents' secrets, Leia must now make a choice between her responsibility to the people of Alderaan and her responsibility to save a galaxy crushed by the rule of the Empire。

An amazingly heartfelt coming of age story; Leia is undertaking challenges to become the acknowledged heir to the thrown, but as she's taking her first independent actions the support and pride she needs from her parents is withdrawn by them。 Like any teenager striving for independence she's determined to show that she can deal with situations and make it on her own, but unlike any teenager, as a Princess her actions can have far reaching impacts。 The art work is sooo well done; Haruichi's detai An amazingly heartfelt coming of age story; Leia is undertaking challenges to become the acknowledged heir to the thrown, but as she's taking her first independent actions the support and pride she needs from her parents is withdrawn by them。 Like any teenager striving for independence she's determined to show that she can deal with situations and make it on her own, but unlike any teenager, as a Princess her actions can have far reaching impacts。 The art work is sooo well done; Haruichi's detail on characters that are familiar from the films is spot on, and the subtleties in facial expressions convey nuanced emotions brilliantly。 And yet, there are still those simpler, fun, quirky panels that maintain the manga feel of this book。 I can't wait for volume 2! 。。。more

This is an interesting take on Princess Leia's pre-rebellion time, and explains some of the ways in which she became a rebel。 My only problem with the way this story is written is that it portrays her parents as being on the rather idiotic side。 I mean, they've raised a strong, intelligent daughter, and then try to keep very important information away from her, and then blame her for doing things based on their holding information back from her。 Not learning from that, they once again hold very This is an interesting take on Princess Leia's pre-rebellion time, and explains some of the ways in which she became a rebel。 My only problem with the way this story is written is that it portrays her parents as being on the rather idiotic side。 I mean, they've raised a strong, intelligent daughter, and then try to keep very important information away from her, and then blame her for doing things based on their holding information back from her。 Not learning from that, they once again hold very important things back from her, when they should have known full well how badly this could work out, and guess what? She trips over their withheld information yet again, in ways that could have been truly devastating。I did enjoy the ways in which Leia's leadership abilities were beginning to show, and it was very nice to see some of the cultural aspects of Alderaan, especially the structure of its royalty。 The action and adventure parts of the story were non-standard, but very interesting, especially the mountain adventure。 。。。more

Though it's still not my favorite Star Wars story, I like the manga version much better than the original novel。 The first volume of the manga goes up to the part where Leia visits Crait and learns some things about her family's involvement in the Rebellion。 From what I remember, the cringier parts of the novel are yet to come。。。 Though it's still not my favorite Star Wars story, I like the manga version much better than the original novel。 The first volume of the manga goes up to the part where Leia visits Crait and learns some things about her family's involvement in the Rebellion。 From what I remember, the cringier parts of the novel are yet to come。。。 。。。more

First off, great art throughout the entire book。 It was all so detailed I feel a little bad for the artist's hands。 The story was amazing as well。 I'll admit that I'm only a casual Star Wars fan and don't know a whole lot about the universe beyond the movies。 This was really great at giving world-building details without it seeming clunky or forced。 The characters were amazing and really helped move the story along。 It does end on a cliffhanger which just makes me want to find the next volume an First off, great art throughout the entire book。 It was all so detailed I feel a little bad for the artist's hands。 The story was amazing as well。 I'll admit that I'm only a casual Star Wars fan and don't know a whole lot about the universe beyond the movies。 This was really great at giving world-building details without it seeming clunky or forced。 The characters were amazing and really helped move the story along。 It does end on a cliffhanger which just makes me want to find the next volume and read it right away。 。。。more

Super into these manga versions of Star Wars lately。 The art is just different enough and the stories are good, filling in parts of lore that are relevant and add to the characters stories。 Leia is no exception。

I don't remember Holdo being in the original book but I think I read it before 'The Last Jedi' came out so I probably just didn't remember the name。 I don't remember Holdo being in the original book but I think I read it before 'The Last Jedi' came out so I probably just didn't remember the name。 。。。more

This review has been hidden because it contains spoilers。 To view it, click here。 I enjoyed this manga soooo much。 I have not read the book that this adaptation is for but I really want to now。 This manga has made me fall in love with Leia all over again。 I loved it。 I really loved the art style, I loved the story line as well as the introduction of new characters as well as some characters we have seen in the films (Bail Organa and Holdo especially)。 I did find one editing error but it is not that important overall。 I am very much looking forward to the next volume。 I cannot I enjoyed this manga soooo much。 I have not read the book that this adaptation is for but I really want to now。 This manga has made me fall in love with Leia all over again。 I loved it。 I really loved the art style, I loved the story line as well as the introduction of new characters as well as some characters we have seen in the films (Bail Organa and Holdo especially)。 I did find one editing error but it is not that important overall。 I am very much looking forward to the next volume。 I cannot wait to read it。 。。。more

Um I think I’m in love with Claudia Gray’s writing。 Yes, this is a manga, but I’m so invested in this story!! The art is very nice and easy to follow, even during the actiony scenes。 I look forward to more volumes, but I think I’m going to snag the novel ASAP!!

This was actually quite good。 Both my partner and I were apprehensive when we saw Claudia Gray's name, but it appears to be only a story credit。 Thankfully, the interior work is all done by the manga artist。 Leia is in character and the expanded lore of the Alderaan royalty is quite fascinating。 Definitely looking forward to volume 2。 This was actually quite good。 Both my partner and I were apprehensive when we saw Claudia Gray's name, but it appears to be only a story credit。 Thankfully, the interior work is all done by the manga artist。 Leia is in character and the expanded lore of the Alderaan royalty is quite fascinating。 Definitely looking forward to volume 2。 。。。more

I enjoyed the novel this was based on, but I actually think this is a better format for that story。 The art looks cool and I'm ready for more。 We discussed this further on a special episode of Howe's Things:https://soundcloud。com/allthebooks/wa。。。 I enjoyed the novel this was based on, but I actually think this is a better format for that story。 The art looks cool and I'm ready for more。 We discussed this further on a special episode of Howe's Things:https://soundcloud。com/allthebooks/wa。。。 。。。more

I read the original novel Leia by Claudia Gray and I was so happy to hear they were creating a manga adaption。 This did not disappoint! Wonderful pace in comparison to the novel and beautiful artwork。 The characters look great and I can’t wait for the rest of the manga volumes to come out。 Perfect for your Star Wars collection ♥️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5T- ☕️

This is the first in a new Manga series that is based on Claudia Gray's 2017 novel of the same name。 Leia is 16 and she goes through a coming of age ceremony where she must complete three tasks before she is ever to become the Queen。 The tasks are of mind, body, and heart and this first volume focuses on those tasks。 Grand Moff Tarkin makes an appearance as does the future Admiral Holdo。 There is a nice surprise at the end of this book that will set up Vol。 2, but otherwise it is fairly predicta This is the first in a new Manga series that is based on Claudia Gray's 2017 novel of the same name。 Leia is 16 and she goes through a coming of age ceremony where she must complete three tasks before she is ever to become the Queen。 The tasks are of mind, body, and heart and this first volume focuses on those tasks。 Grand Moff Tarkin makes an appearance as does the future Admiral Holdo。 There is a nice surprise at the end of this book that will set up Vol。 2, but otherwise it is fairly predictable fare that I only recommend to teen Star Wars affeciandos that want to know what happens with Leia between movie episodes III and IV。 。。。more

The Manga version of the novel is presented here with glorious art and a very fast paced story。 Much like the novel, this story involves Leia's rise through leadership during a time when she didn't know that her adoptive parents, Senator Bail Organa and his wife Queen Breha, were part of the Rebellion against the Empire。 As she declares her intensions to be recognized as the next in line for the throne, Leia begins to explore what it means to be a ruler, what it means to represent Alderaan, and The Manga version of the novel is presented here with glorious art and a very fast paced story。 Much like the novel, this story involves Leia's rise through leadership during a time when she didn't know that her adoptive parents, Senator Bail Organa and his wife Queen Breha, were part of the Rebellion against the Empire。 As she declares her intensions to be recognized as the next in line for the throne, Leia begins to explore what it means to be a ruler, what it means to represent Alderaan, and shows off the brash boldness we've come to see from her later in life。Looking forward to reading the next Volume of this manga。Recommend。 。。。more
